I bought a Sony Bravia KDL-46EX720 a few years ago. I was mainly using it for cable TV using the HDMI connections. I've never tried it using over the air television. Recently, I decided to "cut the cord" and try OTA digital TV with an antenna. I was never able to pickup any channels even though TVfool.com shows that I can easily receive several digital TV channels in my area.

After much fiddling, I found that my TV is the Asia Pacific version of the KDL-46EX720. It's firmware version is showing PKG4.027GAA instead of the PKG4.027AAA for the US version.

Is there a way I can make my TV pickup digital TV channels in the USA without buying additional external equipment?

Considering purchase of either XBR75X940 or XBR75Z9D. Using for cable TV viewing with occasional Blueray/Netflix. Using Onyko 7.1 sound system. Big price difference and wonder if it worth it.

Purchase a Sony TV in Hungary and brought to the US. I would like to know what kind of power converted do.I need? Is my tv dual power? Does this power converter affects any of the feaures of the tv? and are these powers converters loud and energy efficient? Please advise

how can i fix it, if the remote control doesnt work after i inserted keyboard and mouse in the first try the keyboard and mouse work properly. i inserted the muse and keyboard because i surf internet at my bravia kdl-55w650d then after 30 minutes the tv auto shut down and i turn it on again. but in remote contoll the turn off and on button working, but any keys not working but the tv light indicates that any button i pressed in the remote works. please help me how can i fix it

I have many problems now that were caused with your newest Software version PKG5.313.0160NAB for my Sony XBR-65X850C. Please Help me and directly communicate with your Engineering Dept. to fix these issues. If you have any current solutions also please contact and tell me, however I have tried at length with out success to resolve them. This has been extremely stressful.
Quick background. I am an expert with your Sony Android TV Software as have gone through the UI throughly now many times. My TV worked "perfectly" when I bought it a few months ago with Android Lolliop v5.1.1 installed. Everything worked fine for me. Two weeks ago I updated the software as Sony "recommends" (I think it was the Marshmallow v 6.0) and it completely broke (bricked!) my TV in a reboot loop. Because, you cannot go back to previous software versions, you cannot back up settings or apps, the standard major solution Sony gives currently is to completely replace the motherboard (same exact board, just reloaded firmware from warehouse testing). Fast forward two weeks and got the board replaced and the latest (forced again) software update version of the Nougat 7.0, which directly caused the following issues...

Here now are the unresolved NEW issues specifically with latest Software version PKG5.313.0160NAB (remember, these all worked perfectly with Lollipop v5.1.1 version and were caused by this new current update):

~ You no longer can access your external USB flash drive using any file manager app (e.g. ES Explorer Pro) and move, copy, delete, rename, transfer, etc. files. This also disables being able to Install any non play store apps now with any file manager. The system & apps now ask to grant app permission, ("choose Ext SD card directory to grant permissions to operate") but there is no way provided to do this. (always shows as "task failed") I have contacted 12 Android file manager developers, and they all say the Sony Android "TV" software causes this malfunction now. (other Android 7.0 OS devices apparently do not have this problem or they have a Documents app that you can enable that can solve such an issue. Sony Android TV does Not have this app, so the new issue can't be fixed from the app developers side.)

~The TV speakers volume level "System sounds" output (in decibels) sporadically changes and unstable when switching to any screen. e.g. A volume level of 80 in home screen is audible, but when you open say the Video app, or Youtube app, the audio sound level, in Decibels, is way too loud. The screen bar still says 80. You change that level to 30, (which happens to be the Same decibel Output as 80 in another screen), and then go to another screen the sound is way to low and you must turn up level to 80 again to hear system sounds when using remote to move around. These are NOT app specific, as the random TV speaker volume output changes from loud to soft, or soft to loud, even when doing the same app switches, in any direction. (sometimes going to home screen volume changes loud, sometimes going to it goes too soft). All sound, speaker, input variable, advanced settings, etc. on the TV have been tried, tested and verified with 2nd level Sony techs. Is does not fix the issue.

~Settings/Apps now to not have a "running apps" section. The prior software had Horizontal rows (which you could see more apps with Much less scrolling, as it used the full TV screen) had 3 rows: downloaded, system, and Running apps. Now there is a tiny right screen Vertical menu (most screen display real estate is now unused) and you cannot see what apps are running, unless you select and open every single app individually to see if it's open or closed. Thus any diagnostics for app TV issues is much more difficult to source out. Crucial to have a running apps row again.

~"Watch TV" app is no longer available in Home Screen Recommendations. (you have How to watch TV, remote Tutorial, and others that our never needed after first setup, that you can choose to see on the recommend row, but the Watch TV block icon choice is gone now in this software. This was the ONLY Home Screen Rec. I (and others) enabled in the older software, as it is the best way to get to your TV from the home screen. (Action menu/Watch TV is NOT available in Home Screen. Action/Watch TV IS available while actually Watching the TV. (HUH?) ) Since you cannot order the Inputs on Home Screen, now the only way to get to the TV from the Home Screen using the Touch Remote is forced scroll down, and far right input ( in my setup) just to get to TV from Home. "Watch TV app is still there in the system apps but was removed from recommendations menu" apparently. This absolutely needs reverted back to previous function. (the TV button on large remote is not a solution for me. I have had that large remote put away and have only used the Touch from the time I bought this TV) Also, if there ARE no recommendations, that row needs to completely go away. NO warning screen permanently needed. An Action Menu/Watch TV choice on the "Home Screen" would help also.

~When in the stock Video app and watching a video, now a USB connected mouse cannot control the video play/pause/cue buttons anymore. This worked in the previous software. Now if you want to cue a movie say an hour into it, you cannot do this other than hold the remote button and fast forward for a long time. [ ENGINEERS clue for fixing this: Previous software had a Video app Aspect Ratio issue where to achieve the Correct ratio, you needed to go to Action/Video/"Information" screen then back out and the correct AR was generated. Now, the correct AR is fixed but, to get back the broken USB mouse function you need to do the same Action/Video/Information and back out and the mouse works again. Thus, the fix for the Video aspect ratio corrupted the USB mouse function] This should help them quickly find and fix this particular new issue.

~FTP file transfer no longer works. Previous OS software allowed to view and transfer remote computer files using FTP. Now only SFTP works minimally and unstable, and is 7 times slower than the FTP connect that worked before. FTP server access needs to be working again.

Other continuous issues that need addressed:

~The most needed and obvious ones: Ability to revert to previous Software Update. "Incremental" updates that only fix specific issues and can be uninstalled, (NO major full OS updates that are "non-reversable" and full of problems.) Backups- settings, data, apps… to external USB drive or cloud, does not matter. These actions would eliminate countless incredible time, frustration, and problems across all levels.

~Dreamscape (or the Screen saver) needs to work in the Video app. Doesn't trigger.

~Change Order of inputs on Home Screen needed. (this has not been an option with any software versions)

~Option to change Home Screen background wallpaper. (forced ugly Brown in current software now.)

~Be able to choose the apps that show on the Home Screen. All apps, not just some of the Play Store ones, and control to Not show forced Featured apps that will Never ever be used.

~ Be able to change the order of USB external drives in the Discovery Bar Video app added row.

It seems just ludicrous that these issues were actually created by Sony software update, not properly tested, and most astonishingly, with no possible return to a working Sony Android TV system. Being a Sony fan for 30 years plus now and buying all their components over others for so long I have completely lost faith. If these above issues are not solved quickly, which are by no means conclusive, (and most of them the previous Sony software Already had before they broke them, my loyalty for most of my life will change and transfer to either Samsung or LG. So disappointed.

Sony upper level tech help, and/or engineers, please contact me for any solutions, even if you'd like me to test something out. Thank you and hope you redeem my trust.

I have the following model of  Sony Bravia KLV-48W652D

The sony logo on it appears once at the very start, when the power cord is plugged in for the very first time. Then if we powerOFF or powerON the LED using remote. The Sony Logo do not appear. 

Untill you unplug the power cord and with a gap of 5 hours and then re-plug the power cord the sony logo will appear. 

But i think it should appear every time even we poweroff from the remote. 

If someone who went through this problem with this specific model have resolved the issue?

Sony authorized repair technicians do not exist in our area and other repairers do not recognize the defect of the device. Please tell you where and where the fault is located, and what part should be repaired or replaced. Please clearly identify the faulty location of the device.

I know this is an old monitor but I have one and want to use it. Where can I get a user manual? Short of that, how do I get into the color palette in order to calibrate it properly?

My active 3d glasses (TDG-BT500A) is no longer syncing up to my KDL-55W800c.  I thought maybe it was the batteries.  I went out and purchases the batteries but the glasses still not syncing up with the television.  I am wondering if the failure of the 3d glasses syncing up with my television had anything to do with the recent software upgrade Sony performed to the television.  The last time I used my active 3d glasses was in November 2017. Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same issue and if so, how to fix this issue.  Thanks.

A nice challenge for all who read this.

Here's my situation:
TV: Sony XE90 / X900E
AVR: Denon AVR x3300w
Remote: Logitech Harmony Elite
Settopbox: UPC Horizon Box

- All sources are connected to the AVR HDMI ports, including settopbox for TV signal.
- TV has HDMI 3 (ARC) connected to the AVR HDMI output port.

The remote is programmed with two activities:
"Watch TV through AVR"  - this is the activity I generally use. Powers ON the TV, AVR and Settopbox.
"Watch TV without AVR"  - Sound coming from the TV speakers. Powers ON the TV and Settopbox, not the AVR. The AVR has a HDMI-Through function for this to work.

The TV has Bravia Sync, and the AVR is a compatible device. Because ARC is enabled on the AVR, the TV when powered on, will *ALWAYS* send a CEC-signal 'power on' to the AVR, no matter which settings I use on both the the TV and the AVR!  So my activity 'Watch TV without AVR' doesn't work! These settings *should* work (but they don't) to keep the AVR turned OFF:

TV Bravia Sync Settings:
- turn OFF the TV Auto Power On and Device Auto Power Off  (Bravia Sync management is grayed out).

AVR Denon Video / HDMI Setup:
- HDMI Control: On
- ARC: On
- TV Audio Switching: On
- Power Off control: Off  (this is the setting that should matter: the AVR should neglect all power commands coming in through HDMI).  
- Energy Saving: off
- Smart Menu: Off

So, long story short: How do I use the 'Watch TV (without AVR)' activity, without the AVR automatically turning ON because of the CEC 'Power On' command coming from the TV?

Now you will probably tell me there's a simple solution to my problem: just disable HDMI Control and ARC on the AVR. However, I want to keep the 'TV Audio Switching' function ON, which in turn means that HDMI Control has to be ON,  which in turn means ARC has to be ON.  The reason is that when starting Smart TV functions on the TV, the TV Audio can be routed to the AVR through HDMI ARC, and the AVR switches to 'TV input' signal automatically. This works perfectly fine with the above settings.

Then there's another fun fact: When switching from activity "Watch TV Through AVR" to the activity "Watch TV (Without AVR)", the latter activity works fine! It turns the Denon AVR OFF. This makes perfect sense, because when switching activities, the TV is already powered ON, so it will not send a CEC 'power on' command to the AVR. So the activity 'Watch TV (Without AVR)' only works if I first start the 'Watch TV through AVR' activity. It just doesn't work from an *all devices off* position.

I think it should be simple to disable that 'power on' CEC command sent over the HDMI port to the AVR, but apparently, it's not possible...?

My son's KDL-40WD653 has stopped responding to the remote control or the hard +/-/power buttons on the TV. The TV turns on OK but the overlay messages that appear on startup (e.g. Screen format and the message about standby on idle) stay on the screen instead of disappearing after a few seconds. It then shows the last channel we were watching but nothing happens when you use the remote except the LED on the front of the TV flashes.

I have tried turning the TV off at the wall for a few hours and then on again and also I've replaced the remote batteries with fresh ones that I've tested are OK, but it has made no difference.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

I have a USB powered speaker/clock that I've plugged into a USB socket on the TV. I have set USB power to "Auto on". But each time the TV is in standby move the clock powers down (after a while). I want to keep it on and not have to keep restarting it. Any ideas? Thanks

I am having major issues trying to get my Netflix to load. When I click on the app it opens Netflicks. However, when I click on my user name the television pulls up the programs then makes a static or click noise. Once I hear that I know nothing is going to work. It takes a second for the noise and every show or film that I click on opens then idles around the following percentage: 24% or 99%. I have done everything that has been listed: unplugged the television, reset my wi-fi, cleared all data, disabled and enabled, signed out of the account and reinstalled Netflix. No matter what I try the noise keeps happening. I pay for my Netflix and I have been unable to use it on this TV. I can use it on all my other electronical devices without issue. HELP!

After using Sony X900E for a week, it started to turn off itself. First this started while music was playing on YouTube. Next day it started to turn it off after some time every time I switch TV on. 

I tried Factory Reset,and when it was restarting it switched off again.

Unplugged power, then plugged it again. Started to setup TV from the scratch. When it was time to adjust the time, again it turned off.

Next time I started I quickly set it up, gone to settings try to turn off screensaver, timer and stuff like that.

Now it is working with HDMI as source. After restart I am not using andriod features at this moment to see if TV will turn off itself again.

So, seems the issue is in TV software? How to fix?
